Biofuel distributor WoodPellets.com has announced its intent to file for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts High Performance Buildings Grant Program, which seeks proposals for cost-effective energy efficient energy solutions.
By submitting, WoodPellets.com will seek the opportunity to convert homes and businesses in the Commonwealth to wood pellet heating systems.
Jon Strimling, president and CEO of WoodPellets.com, said, Were extremely pleased to see the Commonwealth of Massachusetts take such an important step towards improving energy efficiency across the state. Governor Patricks administration, including Secretary of Energy and the Environment Ian Bowles and Department of Energy Resources commissioner Phil Giudice, have been aggressive about finding practical ways to reduce the Commonwealths carbon emissions as quickly as possible.
If accepted into the Massachusetts High Performance Buildings Grant Program, WoodPellets.com will focus its efforts on broadening the adoption of high-efficiency, low emissions biomass heating systems featuring bulk-fed fuel transfer systems. A bulk-fed heating system allows wood pellets to flow through a hose from a truck to the site, and feed to the heating system.
Strimling continued, The inclusion of biomass thermal in this grant Program is a major step. Countries like Austria, Germany and Sweden have already reduced their carbon emissions substantially through biomass heating, and have actually created more jobs in biomass than in solar or wind. Through this grant Program, Massachusetts opens the door to similar economic and environmental benefits, and sets a precedent for other states to follow.
